Description: A member of the mint family, it is loved by cats hence its name “cat nip” or cat-mint. Catnip has an excitatory effect on cats, bringing on a state of euphoria when ingested by members of the feline family (Felidae); cheetah, puma, jaguar, leopard, lion, lynx, tiger, and domestic cat, etc. So get some catnip for your feline friends!
Catnip contains nepetalactone, which is similar to the valepotriates found in valerian. It has a calming effect on the nervous system, as well relaxes the body’s muscles
It is also great at reducing fevers because it encourages sweating and urination and in doing so, helps remove pathogens from the body.
Catnip is great for indigestion and constipation.
Preparation: bring water to a boil for 5-7 mins then add herbs and simmer on low heat for 15-20 mins
